About Slice Box Creative
Slice Box Creative was born somewhere between the mountains and a pizza break.
Our story began with a shared love for the outdoors, action sports, and making videos with friends. What started as GoPro ski edits in the early 2010s grew into a passion for creating films that make people feel something. Inspired by ski movies, YouTube creators, and films like Red Bull Media House’s The Art of Flight, we developed a style that blends cinematic visuals with the energy of run-and-gun filmmaking. Sometimes clean and polished, sometimes gritty and imperfect, but always intentional.
The name came later. While working on a landscaping project, lunch arrived with individual pizza slices packaged in triangular boxes. We were already searching for a name when our co-founder, Steven, looked at one of them and said, “Slice Box.” The name stuck, and the rest is history.
Today, Slice Box Creative provides content management, videography, photography, and editing for outdoor brands, action sports, events, nonprofits, universities, travel experiences, and documentary projects. We help organizations tell their stories creatively, reach the right people, and build content and marketing systems that continue working long after a project wraps.
Our clients aren’t kept on the sidelines. We bring them into the creative process, listen closely to their ideas, and share what we know along the way. The result is more than a finished video or a collection of photos—it’s a collaborative experience designed to leave clients feeling understood, empowered, and excited about what we created together.
At Slice Box Creative, people come first and the story follows. We believe creativity should feel authentic, collaboration should be rewarding, and every project should deliver more value than expected. Because people help people—and when we create, learn, and grow together, the work becomes something worth remembering.
Kyler (KG) gunnell
I’m Kyler “KG” Gunnell, co-founder of Slice Box Creative. My love for filmmaking began with GoPro ski videos and edits made with friends in the early 2010s. After watching Red Bull Media House’s "The Art of Flight" at 13, I knew filmmaking was something I wanted to pursue as a career.
That passion eventually became Slice Box Creative, a name inspired by a pizza break during a landscaping job. Today, I help brands and organizations tell meaningful stories through videography, photography, editing, and content strategy. My style blends cinematic, polished visuals with the energy of vintage footage and run-and-gun filmmaking.
I believe people should feel something when they experience great creative work. That’s why I involve clients throughout the process, helping them bring their ideas to life while sharing the strategy behind the work. For me, it’s always people first, story second, and creative authenticity throughout.

steven Ballif
Hi, I'm Steve, co-founder of Slice Box Creative (the one who came up with the name). I am a creator passionate about outdoor sports like mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, and mostly all action sports. I love capturing beautiful landscapes with my camera in video and photography formats. If I'm not working as a marketing director at my day job, Monarch Greenhouse Solutions, or on a shoot with SliceBox Creative, I am searching out new places to ride mountain bikes. I graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Public Relations minoring in multi-media development. I spent my time in college writing and filming stories, analyzing case studies, and learning how to create effective art through video, photo, and graphic design. I am excited to use these mediums to take your business story to the next level!
